How MyPanera Points Actually Work
Panera's loyalty program is free, but the way it works is intentionally vague. Points do not show a public value chart. Rewards appear "when you qualify" without telling you the threshold. This guide cuts through the mystery and shows you exactly how the system works, what each reward tier unlocks, and the 3 tricks to double your earning rate.

Earn on every order — redeem when rewards unlock
Every dollar you spend in-cafe, on the app, or through Panera delivery earns approximately 1 point. Points accumulate automatically when your MyPanera account is linked. Third-party delivery does NOT count.
As you hit spending milestones, rewards appear in your account. Panera uses a "surprise" model — you are not told the exact threshold. Common milestones: ~$20 for bakery, ~$50 for drink, ~$80 for entree, ~$120 for premium entree.
Tap the reward in the app and apply it to your next order. Rewards expire 30-60 days after they appear. One reward per transaction. The cycle resets after you redeem, and you start earning toward the next tier.
Panera does not publish exact thresholds — these are based on tracked spending patterns
Tier 1 · ~$20 spent
Cookie, muffin, or scone
~$3-4 value
Tier 2 · ~$50 spent
Any self-serve beverage
~$3-5 value
Tier 3 · ~$80 spent
Any combo meal
~$12 value
Tier 4 · ~$120 spent
Full sandwich, salad, or bowl
~$10-14 value
App orders guarantee your purchase is linked to your MyPanera account. Walk-in orders sometimes fail to connect if the cashier does not scan your account. The app also occasionally triggers bonus point promotions that are not available in-cafe.
Panera sends promotional emails 2-3 times per year with double or triple point earning events. These typically last 7-14 days. If you see one, shift your Panera visits into that window. A $12 You Pick Two earns 12 points normally but 24-36 during a promo.
Your Sip Club gives you free drinks, but every food order you place still earns MyPanera points. Over time, the Sip Club visits push you through reward tiers faster because you are visiting more often and spending on food each time. The two programs compound each other.

You earn points on every purchase made with your MyPanera account. Points accumulate and unlock reward tiers. At each tier, you get a free item — ranging from a bakery treat to a full entree. Points are earned automatically when you scan your app or enter your phone number at checkout.
You earn roughly 1 point per dollar spent in-cafe, on the app, or through Panera delivery. Third-party delivery (DoorDash, Uber Eats) does NOT earn points. Bonus point promotions run frequently and can double or triple your earning rate for limited periods.
Panera uses a rotating reward system rather than fixed tiers. As you accumulate visits and spending, rewards appear in your account. Common rewards include a free bakery item (after 2-3 visits), a free drink (after 5-6 visits), a free You Pick Two (after 8-10 visits), and a free entree (after 12-15 visits). Exact thresholds vary by account.
Points do not expire as long as your account remains active. However, individual reward offers that appear in your account do have expiration dates — usually 30 to 60 days from the date they unlock. Check the Rewards tab in the app regularly so you do not miss a free item.
Yes. There is no cost to create a MyPanera account. You can sign up in the app, on the website, or in-cafe. You start earning points on your first purchase. There is no paid tier — the Sip Club ($14.99/mo) is a separate subscription that works alongside your MyPanera account.
Yes. The Sip Club and MyPanera rewards stack. You earn points on every purchase (including food orders while using your free Sip Club drink). Your Sip Club subscription fee itself does not earn points, but every food order does.
Open the Panera app, tap the Rewards tab, and select the reward you want to use. When you place your next order, the reward is automatically applied at checkout. You can also tell the cashier to check your rewards at the register. Only one reward can be used per transaction.
Yes. MyPanera members receive a free birthday reward — typically a free bakery item or pastry. The reward appears in your account about a week before your birthday and expires 7-14 days after. Make sure your birthday is set in your profile. Check our birthday guide for full details.
Three ways: (1) Always order through the app instead of the register — app orders occasionally earn bonus points. (2) Watch for double-point promotional emails. (3) Order during Panera's Bonus Rewards periods, which run 2-3 times per year and double or triple point earning rates.
No. Points and rewards are tied to your individual MyPanera account and cannot be transferred, shared, or combined with another person's account. Each family member needs their own account to earn their own rewards.
