Panera Gift Cards
Four ways to check Panera gift card balance figures, on a Panera Bread or Saint Louis Bread Co. card. The fastest takes about a minute and needs only the numbers printed on the back.
Nineteen digits printed along the back of the card. No scratching needed.
Eight digits under the silver scratch-off panel. Use a coin, gently.
This site cannot look up your balance. We are an independent guide with no access to Panera's card system, so every route below hands you to Panera's own tools. Never type a gift card number and PIN into a site that is not Panera's.
About a minute
The quickest route. Open Panera’s own balance page, type the 19-digit card number and the 8-digit PIN, and the remaining balance appears on screen. Nothing is posted to you and no account is needed.
Panera balance checkerInstant once added
Add the card to your MyPanera account once and the balance shows every time you open the app. This is the only method that also lets you pay straight from the card at the counter or through Rapid Pick-Up.
While you queue
Hand the card to the cashier and ask them to run a balance check. It takes seconds and works even when the PIN has rubbed off, because the till reads the magnetic stripe rather than the printed number.
Find a cafe near youA few minutes
Panera guest support can read the balance back to you. Have the card number ready. This is the fallback when the card is damaged and the website rejects the number.
Panera sells physical cards in its cafes, and a Panera Bread eGift card by email through its own site. Supermarkets and pharmacies stock the physical cards too. There is no expiry date and no inactivity fee on either kind, so a card keeps its value indefinitely.
Bought in a cafe or a supermarket gift-card rack. Comes with the number and a covered PIN on the back.
Emailed to the recipient, usually within minutes. Same numbers, delivered as text rather than plastic.
Cards come in $10, $25, $50 and $100, and Panera’s site takes any amount. The table below shows what each covers.
Panera sells cards in $10, $25, $50 and $100, and lets you load any amount on its site. Here is what each of the common values covers at August 2026 prices, averaged across US cafes. Your cafe will be a little above or below.
| Card | An order it covers | Comes to | Left over |
|---|---|---|---|
| $10 | Half Toasted Frontega Chicken® $7.37 + French Baguette $1.20 | $8.57 | $1.43 |
| $25 | Toasted Frontega Chicken® $12.28 + Broccoli Cheddar Soup $8.60 + Chocolate Chipper Cookie $3.17 | $24.05 | $0.95 |
| $50 | Family Feast $37.73 + Half Dozen Bagels $9.25 | $46.98 | $3.02 |
A card can be split across visits, so the change stays on it rather than being lost, and several cards can be combined onto one at the counter. See the full menu with prices or You Pick Two to plan an order around a balance.
If your card says Saint Louis Bread Co. rather than Panera Bread, nothing changes. Panera trades under that name across Missouri and Illinois, where the company started in 1987, and it is the same business, the same menu and the same card system.
Every one of the four routes above works on it. Panera’s balance page accepts the card number whichever name is printed on the front, the app adds it the same way, and any cafe till reads it, in Missouri or anywhere else.
A Saint Louis Bread Co. card spends at any Panera in the country, and a Panera card spends at any Bread Co. cafe. The two are not separate balances or separate programmes; only the sign above the door differs.
Four things stop a check going through, and three of them are fixable without phoning anyone.
The website needs it; a cafe till does not. Take the card to any counter and the cashier reads the stripe instead. This is the single most common reason the online checker rejects a card that is perfectly good.
Check the length before anything else: 19 digits for the card and 8 for the PIN, with no spaces. A zero read as an O, or an eight as a B, accounts for most of the rest.
Either the card was never activated at the till when it was bought, which happens with supermarket cards, or it has been spent. Keep the receipt from purchase: Panera can trace an unactivated card with it.
A physical card carries no owner, so a lost one cannot be cancelled or replaced unless it was registered to a MyPanera account first. Registering takes a minute and is worth doing the day you receive one.
None of these can be resolved by us. We hold no access to Panera’s card system, so every route on this page hands you to Panera or to a cafe.
Use Panera’s own balance page and enter the 19-digit card number with the 8-digit PIN, or add the card to the Panera app once and the balance shows every time you open it. A cashier at any bakery-cafe can also check it in seconds, which is the easiest option when the PIN has worn off.
On the back, under a silver scratch-off panel. It is 8 digits and sits below or beside the longer 19-digit card number. Scratch gently with a coin: rubbing too hard can take the digits off with the coating, and the online checker will not accept the card without them.
No. Panera gift cards carry no expiry date and no dormancy or inactivity fees, so a card found in a drawer years later still holds its full value. The balance only changes when you spend it.
Not online, because the website requires both numbers. A cafe can still do it: the till reads the stripe on the back rather than the printed digits, so a worn or scratched PIN is not a problem in person.
Not as paper certificates. What Panera sells now is the plastic gift card and the eGift card by email, and both work the same way at the till. If you are holding an older paper certificate, take it to a cafe: the manager can tell you whether it is still honoured, which is not something a balance page can answer.
Cafes stock fixed amounts of $10, $25, $50 and $100. Buying on Panera's own site lets you set any amount in between, and a card can be topped up later rather than replaced once it runs down.
The same card. Panera trades as Saint Louis Bread Co. across the St Louis area, so cards sold there carry that name. They work at any Panera in the country and are checked through exactly the same balance page.
Yes. Add the card to your MyPanera account and it becomes a payment option for app orders, Rapid Pick-Up and delivery placed through Panera directly. Third-party platforms such as DoorDash and Uber Eats do not accept it.
No. The Sip Club is a recurring subscription and needs a card that can be billed each month, so a gift card cannot be attached to it. You can still use the gift card for the drinks and food you buy outside the subscription.
Contact Panera guest support with the card number and, if you have it, the original receipt. A registered card can usually be replaced with the remaining balance moved across. An unregistered card with no proof of purchase is treated like lost cash.
Checked August 2026. Panera can change gift card terms without notice.
