How the deal works

Panera launched Mix & Match on 25 February 2026, the first proper value menu in the chain's history. Ten items sit on it at one flat price. Pick any two and you pay $9.98, pick more and each one adds $4.99, up to ten.

Every order also comes with one free side, and you choose which: a baguette, a bag of crisps or an apple. That is per order rather than per item.

The small print, in Panera's own words

  • Participating US cafes only, so a franchise cafe near you may not run it
  • The order has to be placed as Mix & Match
  • No upgrades or substitutions
  • Any modification is charged on top

Every item on the menu

Ten items, plus one seasonal slot that rotates through the year. Beside each one is what that same half or cup costs the rest of the time, so the $4.99 has something to be measured against.

Half sandwiches

  • Toasted Italiano $4.99

Usually $7.99, so the offer takes $3.00 off.

  • Toasted Caprese Focaccia $4.99

Usually $6.17, so the offer takes $1.18 off.

  • Bacon Turkey Bravo $4.99

Usually $7.39, so the offer takes $2.40 off.

  • Cranberry Walnut Chicken Salad $4.99

Usually $5.89, so the offer takes $0.90 off.

Half salads

  • Fuji Apple Chicken $4.99

Usually $7.36, so the offer takes $2.37 off.

  • Ranch Parm BLT $4.99

Usually $6.27, so the offer takes $1.28 off.

  • Caesar $4.99

Usually $5.53, so the offer takes $0.54 off.

Cups of soup

  • Creamy Tomato $4.99

Usually $5.57, so the offer takes $0.58 off.

  • Homestyle Chicken Noodle $4.99

Usually $5.57, so the offer takes $0.58 off.

  • Bistro French Onion $4.99

Usually $5.57, so the offer takes $0.58 off.

Where those figures come from. Each is the average across the 2,239 US cafes in our August 2026 snapshot, for the same portion Mix & Match sells: the half sandwich or salad, and the cup of soup rather than the bowl. This note used to say Panera publishes no half-portion prices and that a saving could not be quoted. It does publish them, on 38 items, and the comparison above is against those. Prices still vary by cafe, so treat a saving as close rather than exact.

Mix & Match or You Pick Two

The two look almost identical and Panera sells them side by side. The difference is the list and the pricing model.

Mix & Match

Ten fixed items, $4.99 each, two minimum. Cheapest route when what you want is on the list, because the price does not move with the item you choose.

You Pick Two

Any two eligible half portions from the wider menu, priced on what you pick, from about $10.59. Worth it when you want something the value menu does not carry.

The Panera Mix and Match menu, priced against the usual

Every item on the board is $4.99. What it costs the rest of the time is not the same for all ten, and that is what decides whether the deal is worth ordering. These are the prices we read across US cafes in August 2026; the soups compare against a cup, which is the size Mix and Match sells.

Item Group Usually At $4.99 Calories
Toasted Italiano Half sandwiches $7.99 saves $3.00 670
Bacon Turkey Bravo Half sandwiches $7.39 saves $2.40 430
Fuji Apple Chicken Half salads $7.36 saves $2.37 350
Ranch Parm BLT Half salads $6.27 saves $1.28 380
Toasted Caprese Focaccia Half sandwiches $6.17 saves $1.18 370
Cranberry Walnut Chicken Salad Half sandwiches $5.89 saves $0.90 350
Creamy Tomato Cups of soup $5.57 saves $0.58 240
Homestyle Chicken Noodle Cups of soup $5.57 saves $0.58 120
Bistro French Onion Cups of soup $5.57 saves $0.58 200
Caesar Half salads $5.53 saves $0.54 270

Averaged across the ten, the offer takes $1.34 off an item. The spread is the part worth knowing: Toasted Italiano drops $3.00, while a cup of soup drops well under a dollar because a cup is close to $4.99 already. Full prices for everything outside the board are on our sandwiches, salads and soups pages.

Are the Panera Mix & Match deals worth it?

Sometimes. The Panera Bread value menu is a flat $4.99 whatever you pick, so what you save depends entirely on what that item costs the rest of the time, and the gap between the best and worst on the board is wider than most value menus admit to.

Where it pays

The half sandwiches. Toasted Italiano normally runs $7.99, so ordering two of those at $4.99 each saves $6.00 against buying them separately, before the free side is counted at all.

Where it barely moves

The soups and the Caesar. A cup of soup runs $5.57 on its own, so $4.99 takes $0.58 off it. Ordering two cups to clear the two-item minimum saves about a dollar, which is not why the offer exists.

The free side is the rest of it

One baguette, bag of chips or apple per order, not per item. On a two-item order that is worth more than the discount on some pairings, which is why the cheapest sensible Mix and Match order is a sandwich plus anything.

What it is not

It is not a discount on your usual order. Nothing outside these ten qualifies, no substitutions are allowed, and any change is charged on top. If what you want is not on the board, You Pick Two is the flexible one, and the nutrition calculator totals the calories for whatever you build instead.

Mix & Match questions

What is the Panera Mix & Match menu?

It is Panera's first value menu, launched on 25 February 2026. Ten items are priced at $4.99 each: four half sandwiches, three half salads and three cups of soup, plus one seasonal item that rotates through the year. You must order at least two of them, and you can order up to ten.

How much does Panera Mix & Match cost?

Each item is $4.99, so the smallest order is two items for $9.98. That order also comes with one free side, so a two-item meal with a baguette, chips or an apple is $9.98 before tax.

What comes free with Mix & Match?

One side per order: a baguette, a bag of chips or an apple. You choose which.

Do you have to buy two items?

Yes. Panera sets a two-item minimum and a ten-item maximum, and the order has to be placed as Mix & Match. A single item at $4.99 is not part of the offer.

What is on the Panera Mix & Match menu?

Half sandwiches: Toasted Italiano, Toasted Caprese Focaccia, Bacon Turkey Bravo, Cranberry Walnut Chicken Salad. Half salads: Fuji Apple Chicken, Ranch Parm BLT, Caesar. Cups of soup: Creamy Tomato, Homestyle Chicken Noodle, Bistro French Onion. A rotating seasonal item joins them through the year.

Can I swap or upgrade a Mix & Match item?

No. Panera states no upgrades or substitutions, and any modification is charged on top. The offer also runs at participating US cafes only, so a franchise cafe near you may not take part.

Is Mix & Match the same as You Pick Two?

No, though they look alike. You Pick Two lets you pair any two eligible half portions from the wider menu and you pay for what you pick. Mix & Match is a fixed list of ten items at one flat price each, which makes it the cheaper of the two when what you want is on the list.

Is Mix & Match available for delivery?

It is available in cafe and through Panera's own site and app. Delivery orders carry Panera's usual delivery pricing, which runs above cafe prices, so the $4.99 is not what you pay once delivery is added.

Deal terms taken from Panera's launch announcement. Comparison prices from our 2,239-cafe snapshot, checked August 2026. Panera can change or withdraw the menu without notice.
