Panera Bread Secret Menu 2026

12 Off-Menu Builds, and What Each One Starts From

Panera does not advertise a secret menu. But their customization engine is wide open. Once you know the right combinations, you can build items that outperform the standard menu in both taste and value. These 12 off-menu orders are built using ingredients already in every Panera kitchen. Every one is built from ingredients already carried at real locations.

The Truth

What Is the Panera Secret Menu?

Panera does not have an official secret menu. What they do have is one of the most flexible customization systems in fast casual dining. The app and in-store kiosks let you add, remove, and swap nearly every ingredient on every menu item. That flexibility is what makes a "secret menu" possible.

Not an Official List

Panera has never published a "secret menu." You will not find these items listed anywhere on their website, app, or in-store signage. They do not train staff on these names.

100% Real and Orderable

Every item on this list uses ingredients that exist in every Panera kitchen. You build them through the standard customization system. No special requests needed.

App Is the Best Way

The Panera app gives you the most control over customization. You can see exactly which modifications are available and the price adjusts in real time as you build.

Step by Step

How to Order Panera Secret Menu Items

There are three ways to order off-menu items at Panera. The app method is the most reliable because it eliminates miscommunication and shows you real-time pricing.

1

Open the Panera App

Recommended

Download the Panera app if you do not have it. Sign in or create a free MyPanera account. You will earn rewards points on every order you place through the app.

2

Select the Base Item

Required

Find the menu item that serves as the foundation for your secret menu build. For example, to make the Loaded Broccoli Cheddar Bread Bowl, start by selecting the regular Broccoli Cheddar Bread Bowl.

3

Tap Customize

Required

After selecting the base item, tap the 'Customize' button. This opens the full modification menu where you can add, remove, or swap ingredients. The price updates in real time.

4

Follow the Build Instructions

Follow Guide

Use the exact modifications listed for each secret menu item in this guide. Add the specified toppings, swap the listed ingredients, and remove anything the build calls for.

5

Save to Favorites

Pro Tip

Before checking out, tap 'Save to Favorites.' Next time you want the same secret menu item, it is one tap away. No need to rebuild it from scratch every time.

Food Items

Panera Off Menu Items You Can Build

Off-menu builds you can order by customizing a regular Panera item. The price shown is what the base item costs on average across our cafe snapshot; add-ons cost extra.

1

Loaded Broccoli Cheddar Bread Bowl

Starts from Broccoli Cheddar in a bread bowl

$9.29
How to order it
Order the bread bowl, then add bacon and extra cheddar in the app.
Why it works
The bacon sinks into the hot soup and the cheddar melts into the sourdough walls, so the bread stops being an afterthought.
2

Mac and Cheese Bread Bowl

Starts from Mac & Cheese in a bread bowl

$9.70
How to order it
Choose the bread bowl serving of the mac rather than the bowl.
Why it works
Thick enough to stay put where a soup would soak through. Worth knowing that the bread bowl holds a cup, so it is $1.30 cheaper than the bowl and a smaller portion.
3

Grilled Cheese Deluxe

Starts from Grilled Cheese

$8.48
How to order it
Add bacon and tomato at the kiosk before it goes on the grill.
Why it works
Both go in before pressing, so the tomato softens and the bacon crisps into the cheese rather than sitting on top.
4

Spicy Avocado Chicken Melt

Starts from Chipotle Chicken Avo Melt

$12.41
How to order it
Swap the cheese for pepper jack and add jalapenos.
Why it works
The melt already carries chipotle; the pepper jack pushes the heat without changing what the sandwich is.
5

Double Soup Bread Bowl

Starts from Bread bowl plus a cup on the side

$14.86
How to order it
Order a bread bowl and add a cup of a second soup to the same order.
Why it works
Eat the bread bowl down, then pour the cup in. Two soups, one bowl, and the bread has soaked in the first by the time the second arrives.
6

Cinnamon Crunch Cream Cheese Sandwich

Starts from Cinnamon Crunch Bagel plus a cream cheese cup

$3.88
How to order it
Order the bagel sliced with a tub of plain cream cheese on the side.
Why it works
The cinnamon crust is sweet enough that plain cream cheese does the work honey walnut is usually brought in for, and it is the cheapest build here.
7

Caesar Crunch Wrap

Starts from Caesar Salad with Chicken

$12.42
How to order it
Ask for the bread on the side rather than croutons, then build it yourself.
Why it works
The chicken and dressing go into the warm bread instead of onto cold lettuce, which is the part of a caesar most people are actually after.
8

Breakfast Bagel Stack

Starts from Asiago Bagel

$2.10
How to order it
Add scrambled egg and tomato, and ask for it open-faced.
Why it works
Open-faced keeps the asiago crust crisp under the egg. Panera sells four made-up bagel stacks; this is the cheapest way to the same idea.
9

Green Goddess Protein Plate

Starts from Green Goddess Chicken Cobb Salad

$13.82
How to order it
Add extra chicken and hold the greens.
Why it works
What is left is egg, avocado, bacon and chicken in the green goddess dressing, which is the salad most people eat around the lettuce to reach anyway.
10

Southwest Spice Bowl

Starts from Southwest Chicken Ranch Salad

$13.37
How to order it
Add jalapenos, hold the tortilla strips.
Why it works
The dressing already carries chipotle, so the jalapenos add heat rather than a second flavour, and dropping the strips takes out the part that goes soft.
11

Veggie Market Bowl, Loaded

Starts from All-In Veggie Market Bowl

$9.95
How to order it
Add chicken to the veggie bowl instead of ordering a chicken one.
Why it works
It is Panera's cheapest bowl, and the two with chicken already in them start at $12.41.
12

Half and Half Salad

Starts from Half Southwest Chicken Ranch Salad

$7.99
How to order it
Order two halves of different salads rather than one whole.
Why it works
Panera sells half portions of most salads, and two halves is the only way to have two dressings in one meal.

The price is what the build starts from, not what it ends at. Panera does not publish what an add-on costs and it varies by cafe, so the total appears in the app before you pay and nowhere else. Base prices are averages across our cafe snapshot.

Secret Drinks

Panera Secret Menu Drinks From the Fountain

The self-serve drink station is where the real creativity happens. These combinations are free to make if you have the Unlimited Sip Club. No extra charge for mixing at the fountain.

Arnold Palmer

Half unsweetened iced tea, half agave lemonade

The classic, and the reason the fountain has both taps beside each other.

Half-Sweet Lemonade

Half agave lemonade, half unsweetened iced tea or water

The agave lemonade is 210 calories a cup; cutting it halves that without losing the flavour.

Tropical Tea

Half passion papaya green tea, half agave lemonade

The green tea carries no caffeine and the lemonade carries the sweetness, so it drinks like a cordial.

Cut Refresher

Half energy refresher, half unsweetened iced tea

The refresher is 48mg of caffeine and 190 calories; halving it makes a long drink out of a short one.

Iced Americano, sort of

Iced coffee topped with water over ice

Not a real americano, but it is the closest the self-serve line gets and the espresso bar is not covered by the subscription.

The fountain is self-serve, so these are the one genuinely off-menu thing here. The 25 drinks the Sip Club covers are the ones you can pour and mix yourself; the espresso bar is made to order and cannot be.

Half and Half Salad Half Southwest Chicken Ranch Salad $7.99 $7.29–$10.69

Panera publishes no price for adding bacon, avocado or an extra scoop of chicken, and there is none in the menu data either. The only extra we can price is a cup of cream cheese at $1.78. Anyone quoting an exact figure for the rest is guessing, so this table gives the part that is real: what you are starting from.

Pro Tips

Five Tips for Panera Custom Orders

These tips will help you get the most out of the Panera customization system. They apply to both the secret menu items in this guide and any custom builds you create on your own.

1

Always Use the App

The app shows every available modification and updates the price in real time. Ordering at the counter can lead to miscommunication. The kiosk is your second-best option.

2

Save to Favorites Immediately

After building a custom order, save it to favorites before checking out. If you forget, you will have to rebuild the item from scratch next time you visit.

3

Check Modification Limits

Some items have a maximum number of modifications. If you hit the limit, the app will tell you. Plan your most important add-ons first and skip the less critical ones.

4

Stack with MyPanera Rewards

Every custom order earns MyPanera points. The add-on costs count toward your points total. At 10 points per dollar, a $12 custom build earns 120 points.

5

Pair with the Sip Club

If you visit Panera regularly, the $14.99 Sip Club saves you money on drinks and lets you mix unlimited secret drink combos at the self-serve station.

Avoid These

4 Mistakes to Avoid When Ordering Off-Menu

These common mistakes can ruin your secret menu experience. Avoid them to make sure your custom order comes out exactly the way you want it.

Using Secret Menu Names at the Counter

Staff will not know what you mean if you say 'I want the Power Protein Bowl.' These are community names, not official Panera terms. Use the app or describe each modification step by step.

Over-Customizing a Single Item

Adding 5 or 6 modifications to one item can overwhelm the kitchen and increase the chance of errors. Keep it to 2 to 3 modifications for the best results.

Ordering Via Third-Party Apps

DoorDash and Uber Eats offer fewer customization options than the Panera app. Some modifications that work in the Panera app may not be available on third-party platforms.

Not Checking the Price Before Ordering

Add-ons stack up, and Panera does not publish their prices. Always review the updated total in the app before hitting submit.

FAQ

Panera Secret Menu Questions Answered

Everything you need to know about ordering off-menu at Panera Bread. Covers customization costs, ordering methods, and availability.

01

Does Panera Bread have a secret menu?

Not an official one. Panera publishes no hidden list, and staff will not know a name you read online. What exists is a customisation system: the app and the kiosk let you add, remove and swap on most items, and the 12 builds on this page are ordinary orders put together differently. Order them by building them, not by asking for them.

02

How do I order Panera secret menu items?

In the app or at the in-store kiosk. Pick the base item, tap Customize, then add or remove what the build calls for. At the counter you can ask for the same changes in plain words. Every build on this page names the item to start from, because that is the only part the till understands.

03

What do Panera secret menu items cost?

They start at whatever the base item costs, from $2.10 for the breakfast bagel stack to $14.86 for the double soup bread bowl. Panera does not publish what an add-on costs and it varies by cafe, so the honest answer is the base plus whatever the extras come to on your receipt.

04

Does Panera charge extra for customisations?

Taking something off is free. Adding is not, and Panera does not publish a price list for it: the only one we can price from our data is a cup of cream cheese at $1.78. Anyone quoting you an exact figure for bacon or avocado is guessing. Check the total in the app before you pay, which is where it appears.

05

Are there secret menu drinks at Panera?

The fountain is self-serve, so mixing is the one thing here that is genuinely off-menu: tea with lemonade, a refresher cut with tea, a lemonade cut half and half. The 25 drinks the Sip Club covers are the ones you can pour yourself. The espresso bar is made to order, so nothing there can be mixed.

06

Does Panera still sell the Charged Lemonade?

No, and most secret menu lists still built on it. It is not on the menu at any cafe in our snapshot. The Energy Refreshers replaced it on the same fountain at 48mg of caffeine rather than several hundred. Our Charged Lemonade guide covers what happened.

07

Can I order off-menu builds for delivery?

Yes, through the Panera app for Rapid Pick-Up or delivery, because the customisation travels with the order. Third-party apps carry the menu but not always the full set of modifiers, so build it in Panera's own app if the changes matter.

08

Can I save a custom order in the Panera app?

Yes. Build it, then save it to favourites before you check out. That is the practical answer to the naming problem: the app remembers the build, so you never have to describe it to anyone.

09

Will Panera staff recognise a secret menu name?

No. These names come from customers, not from Panera. Asking for a "Pink Drink" at the counter will get you a blank look. Ask for the changes instead: the item, then what to add and what to leave off.

10

Are off-menu builds available all day?

Whenever the base item is. They are regular menu items ordered differently, so a build on a bagel follows the bakery's hours and a build on a bread bowl follows the soup station's. Nothing here is time-limited on its own.

Ready to Try Something Off the Menu?

Open the Panera app. Tap Customize. Build something the standard menu never intended.
