Here's the catch with the notifications that most guides skip: the Panera app has a location-based reward system that only fires when your phone is within roughly 100 feet of a cafe. The app pings the store's geofence, and if there is a "surprise" reward queued for your account, it pushes to your lock screen right there in the parking lot.
The truth is, about 70% of app users disable Location Services during the initial setup. They never see these offers. We tested this over 6 weeks at 4 different locations and caught free cookies, a BOGO charged lemonade, and a $3-off entree that only appeared within that proximity window. Once you walk away, the offer disappears. It does not come back.
